Disability support

Choose Dovida to support you to live your life with a disability, your way, in your own home.

Who can Dovida support?

Dovida supports thousands of adults and children under the age of 65 across Ireland living with a disability to remain at home.

For some people that disability is life-long, for some it has been acquired due to illness or injury and for others, it may be temporary due to a recent surgery.

Our goal is simple – to support you to live the life you choose, at home, on your terms.

We support people living with:

  • A range of physical, sensory, intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities e.g. visual impairment, Down Syndrome, autism, Cerebral Palsy, rare diseases.
  • Progressive or acquired conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis (MD), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Parkinson’s Disease, spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, early-onset dementia and autism.
  • Chronic illness including diabetes, COPD, ME, fibromyalgia and heart failure.
  • Mental illness including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, OCD and bipolar disorder.
  • Conditions that require rehabilitation and convalescence e.g. people undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, recovering from a recent surgery.

Our support is personalised, to keep you living independently at home for as long as possible.

Your home support can be funded privately or through the HSE – we’re here to support you, whatever your situation.

How can Dovida help me?

Our services include:

  • Daily living support with personal care like showering, dressing and using the toilet, meal preparation, mobility and medication.
  • Support to access the community so that you can get to your medical appointments, do the shopping, attend religious or cultural events, return to work or education, take part in hobbies or meet up with friends and family.
  • Companionship. We know that living alone can be lonely and our staff can make your day a little brighter by having a chat and spending time with you to do the things you would like to do.
  • Light housework and shopping to support you to maintain a safe, clean home and ensure you have groceries and supplies.
  • Complex care including neurogenic bowel and bladder care.
  • Respite to give you and your family a break.
  • Transition from hospital to home to help you to return home safely and take part in your rehabilitation programme.
  • Case management and life planning to support you to develop a vision for your life and manage your own support (most useful for services funded privately or through HSE personalised budget pilot).
