What’s involved in a typical day of Live-in Care with Dovida?

When you choose a Live-in Care service with Dovida, you’re choosing continuity, security and peace of mind for you and your family. You’ll get seven hours a day of personalised, one-to-one care tailored to your daily requirements. It’s a lot more than the average 3.6 hours of one-to-one care that nursing homes provide, and it’s delivered according to a schedule that best suits your individual preferences.

Our Live-in Care plans are designed in close consultation with you, your family, and your Dovida Care Manager. Our Caregivers are trained to provide standard services such as personal care, companionship, and help around the house, or more complex services such as dementia care or arthritis care if you need it.

Every client’s requirements are different, and our Live-in Careplans are designed to suit each individual, to support, empower and uplift them every day. Our managed care plans are typically based around seven hours of schedule, but you can arrange these hours based on your own specific preferences.

Below is an example of a daily schedule:

08:00-11:00

Your day begins with a friendly wake-up call, and assistance with a shower and dressing. Your Live-in Caregiver can chat to you about the morning’s news stories as they prepare your porridge, served ‘just right’! After breakfast, you can do some light exercises with your Caregiver or go for a walk, to help keep fit. Then sit back and relax while your Caregiver tidies up the house for you and does your laundry – or will help you with the chores if you prefer to do them yourself.

13:00-15:00

Enjoy a relaxing lunch prepared by your Live-in Caregiver, who knows how to create the meals you love. They’ll clear up after the meal, or help you do it, and then you can settle in for a game of cards,do the crosswords, or take a taxi to the shops for a wander. You could take a walk in the local park if the weather permits or have a friend for tea and the Live-in Caregiver will assist you.

17:30-18:30

Your Caregiver will prepare the dinner while you watch the evening news or read a book. If you prefer to have your dinner in the middle of the day, you can do that (it’s completely your choice). If this is your preference, your Live-in Caregiver will prepare a light, nutritious supper for you instead.

20:00-21:00

End the day with a chat with your Caregiver before bed. They’ll make sure you are safely changed for bed, bring you a tray of beverages for beside your bed and are tucked up tight, so you can enjoy a good night’s sleep and wake refreshed for the day that lies ahead.

That’s what a typical day of Live-in Care with Dovida can look like – but of course your care plan will be designed according to your own preferences. While care services are typically carried out during the day, your Live-in Caregiver can be available during other hours – and will always be there in case of an emergency during the night – they and you have access to 24-hour emergency assistance provided by your local Dovida office.
