What is the role of a Caregiver?
Dovida Caregivers provide non-medical services to older adults and people with disabilities. These services can be anything from companionship, meal preparation, or medication reminders to personal care, dementia care, or palliative care.
What qualifications are required to be a Caregiver?
Dovida requires a QQI level 5 Certificate in Care Skills and Care of the Older Person, but you don’t need to have it on application. We’ll assist you through it as you work.
What are the key skills required for a Caregiver?
Compassion, dedication, and a willingness to learn. Technical and soft skills like emotional intelligence, interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility to quickly act in emergencies, grit and determination, and physical and emotional fortitude are also crucial.
Does Dovida provide training?
Yes, new caregivers receive 20 hours free training and have access to further training such as City & Guilds Dementia Training.
