Dovida Culture Week – Celebrating the values that connect us all

By Shane Jennings, CEO, Dovida Ireland

This week, we are celebrating Dovida Culture Week. It is an opportunity to recognise the people, stories and connections that make our organisation such a special place to work and grow.

The strength of Dovida has always been our people, and I am incredibly proud to lead a team enriched by the diversity of cultures, backgrounds and experiences they bring to our organisation.

Across Ireland, our colleagues and Caregivers bring different perspectives, traditions and ideas to the work we do every day. While we each have our own story, we are united by a shared purpose and a common set of values that guide how we work together and support our clients.

These shared Dovida Values – Lead with your Heart, Care with Compassion, and Make a Difference – are the theme of Dovida Culture Week. They belong to everyone at Dovida and guide us on our mission to support, empower and uplift people by putting them at the heart of everything we do.

Leading with our Hearts

At Dovida, leading with your heart means acting with authenticity, honesty and respect. It means taking the time to listen to understand, having the courage to speak up when something matters and building trust by consistently doing the right thing. We see this every day across our organisation.

It shows up when our Caregivers take a few extra minutes to listen to a client share a story from their past. We see it in the office teams who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure clients receive the support they need, and when colleagues support one another during challenging moments and celebrate each other’s successes.

Leading with our hearts helps us to create an environment where people feel valued, respected and connected.

Caring with Compassion

Compassion is at the heart of everything we do at Dovida. To care with compassion means being attentive, acting with kindness, and understanding what truly matters to others. It means recognising the individuality of every person, supporting their independence wherever possible and communicating with empathy.

Every day, our teams make meaningful connections with our clients and their families. It is the seemingly small moments that have the greatest impact. A reassuring conversation over a cup of tea, a helping hand with the washing, or the familiar face arriving at the door after a tough morning. These are the moments that truly matter because they make people feel seen, heard, valued and supported to stay connected to their communities. Caring with compassion is the essence of home care at Dovida.

Making a Difference

Making a Difference is about the impact we create together. We make a difference by turning small actions into meaningful outcomes, taking initiative, staying solution-focused and helping others find purpose.

Whether it is welcoming a new Caregiver to the team, supporting a colleague through a busy period, helping a client achieve greater independence, or finding innovative ways to improve our services, our people make a difference every single day in homes and communities throughout Ireland.

Dovida Culture Week is a celebration of the many cultures, experiences and perspectives that make our organisation unique and the values that connect us all.

As CEO, I continue to be inspired by the work ethic, determination, and compassion of each person who strives every day to make their communities a better place. I would like to thank every member of our team for the role they play in bringing these values to life.

Together, we continue to lead with our hearts, care with compassion, and make a difference in the lives of our clients, their families, and each other. That is what makes Dovida special, and it is something worth celebrating.
