Become a Home Health Care Assistant in Galway or Mayo

We are expanding our specialist Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Home Care Service in Galway and Mayo, and we are recruiting dedicated Home Health Care Assistants to deliver skilled, person-centred support.

As part of a dedicated team, the role suits experienced carers who would like to work in a clinically progressive, highly supportive, and provide a genuinely person-centred service.

This is not routine home care – it is about enabling people with spinal cord injuries to live full lives at home, prevent hospital admissions, and maintain dignity and independence.

About the service

Our SCI Home Care Service supports individuals with spinal injuries to return home and remain there through enhanced personal care, delegated clinical supports, and proactive risk management.

You will be working as part of a structured service with specialist training, nurse-led oversight, and clear escalation pathways.

About the role

As a Home Health Care Assistant in our SCI service, you will support clients with complex physical needs with:

  • Personal care delivered with dignity and respect
  • Bowel and bladder routines (including neurogenic bowel and bladder care following training and delegation)
  • Catheter care support and monitoring (as delegated) to include catheter flushing
  • Skin integrity, pressure care routines, and repositioning
  • Mobility, transfers, hoists, and specialist equipment e.g. splints, tilt table
  • Daily living, routines, and meaningful activities
  • Implementation of exercise programmes e.g. Motomed
  • Observation, documentation, and early identification of changes in condition

This role prioritises teamwork, continuity, consistency, and relationship-based care. Full training will be provided, and you will be supervised and supported by an NMBI registered nurse.

  • Can follow structured care plans and want to perform delegated clinical tasks
  • Communicate clearly and document accurately
  • Understand boundaries, consent, and person-centred decision-making

Experience in disability, neurological conditions, spinal injury, or complex care is an advantage, but not essential—full specialist training will be provided.

  • Flexible working patterns where possible
  • A respectful, supportive organisational culture

Why join Dovida?

This service exists because people with spinal cord injuries are too often delayed in hospital or placed in inappropriate settings due to lack of skilled community support.

By joining this team, you are part of a solution-focused, system-changing approach to home-based care.

If you want more than routine home care—and want to be part of something that matters—we would love to hear from you.
