Training to become a Dovida Caregiver

We understand the importance of equipping caregivers with the skills and confidence to care effectively for older adults.

We offer caregivers a range of training programmes which enable them to deliver excellence in care and progress their own careers.

The safety and wellbeing of our clients is paramount to us and our wonderful team of skilled caregivers ensure more than 7,000 ageing adults in Ireland are in the very best of hands. Our high standards, meticulous care management processes and our training programmes underpin the quality of care that Dovida clients receive.

The latter is delivered through our Academy, which provides caregivers with practical training using a blended learning approach. It equips our staff with all the skills needed to care for our clients. The Academy allows us to ensure that our caregivers have ongoing access to excellent content, from the basics such as infection control and medication management to specialised topics such as caring for a client living with dementia. Caregivers learn all about Dovida’s quality systems and standards, which set us apart from other care providers.

Changing skill requirments

Before being placed with a client, new caregivers get 20 hours’ free, fully supported training via the Academy and are issued with Dovida, HSELand and Tusla certificates on completion. There is an option to continue this training and receive a City & Guilds Accredited Certificate in Dementia Care. We never stop developing new training modules, as skills requirements can change over time. Job Aids have been put together by our in-house team and are designed to enhance a caregiver’s skills and knowledge through real-life scenarios. We have also rolled out a series of wellbeing modules which helped our caregivers cope with the additional strain placed upon them during the Covid-19 pandemic, when they worked tirelessly to deliver essential services all over the country, saving many lives.
