Meet our Caregivers | Juana Tizcareno
Juana Tizcareno is a Caregiver with Dovida Fairview, who support people in Dublin 1, 3, 5, 7 and 13. Juana has been part of the Fairview team for one and a half years and recently won two Caregiver of the Year awards.
Beloved by her clients and described by one as an “earth angel” Juana is Dovida Fairview’s Caregiver of the Year as well as the Leinster Caregiver of the Year.
The plaudits rolled in for Juana when she was nominated for Leinster Caregiver of the Year: an individual with a big heart, patient, shows great care, kind, empathetic, respectful. It was with pleasure then that she recently told us how she came to become a Caregiver with Dovida.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Juana Tizcareno, I am Mexican and I come from the city where the Mariachi, traditional music of my country, is from. I am the second youngest of seven siblings and two parents who took care of us and love us very much.
When did you start working in Care?
I started working in my city doing voluntary work in the nursing homes and my interest grew when my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I understood the condition better after looking after my Dad and the importance of treating people with this illness with dignity and respect.
What does being a Caregiver mean to you?
It gives me the opportunity to provide my time and attention to people who require care and assistance. At the same time they give kindness and job satisfaction in return.
How do you switch off in your free time?
I like walking in parks and to enjoy nature. I enjoy discovering new parts of the city and I also enjoy feeding the pigeons in St Stephen’s Green.
