Dovida Caregiver Appreciation Week to highlight ‘invaluable contribution’ of caregivers  

When is Caregiver Appreciation Week?

Ireland’s leading home care provider, Dovida, is to celebrate the dedication and commitment of its over 4,000 strong workforce during Caregiver Appreciation Week. The week-long event will take place all over the country from the 16^th to the 20^th of June to highlight the invaluable contribution Dovida caregivers make every day in the lives of the over 8,000 people they care for and support.

This year, Dovida, which recently rebranded from Home Instead, celebrates 20 years of providing exceptional care and support to ageing adults and people with disabilities in Ireland. Having recently announced its Caregivers of the Year, the company wants to show its appreciation for every single one of its caregivers by dedicating a week just to them.

“We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for the invaluable contribution of thousands of caregivers past and present who have provided care and support to countless people all over the country since we started here in 2005,” Shane Jennings, CEO of Dovida Ireland, said.

“People like our longest-serving caregiver, Anne McDonald, who joined us right at the beginning, to this year’s National Caregiver of the Year, Ryan Owen, who has been with us just over a year, are out there every day, rain or shine, providing a vital service to some of the most vulnerable people in the country,” he added.

“We hear positive stories every day about caregivers who brighten up their clients’ days, bring smiles to their faces and inspire others with their actions,” Danette Connolly, Director of Client Experience and Clinical Governance at Dovida, said.

“We are delighted to join with our colleagues from all over the country to celebrate our diverse and vibrant caregiver community and pay tribute to their kindness, dedication and commitment,” she added.

“Our caregivers are a diverse and inspiring group of over 4,000 people. Every one of them has a unique story to tell, and it is this uniqueness that helps them to connect with those they support to remain living in their own home,” she continued.

“Caregiver Appreciation Week is simply a way for us to say thank you and show our caregivers how much we value them and everything they do for their clients, colleagues, and communities,” she concluded.

What will be happening?

Caregiver Appreciation Week takes place nationwide from June 16^th – 20^th. During the week, the company will be hosting special events of appreciation throughout its network of 25 offices. Dovida welcomes the support of the local community and invites them to join in the celebrations by sharing their stories of gratitude and appreciation for their caregivers on Dovida’s social media channels or by simply reaching out to a caregiver to say – “thank you”.
